The Paramount Network is yet to officially confirm a fifth season of its biggest drama, but there’s certainly no sign of the Dutton saga slowing down. After another successful yet divisive season of Yellowstone, the extended finale last Sunday has set viewing records for 2022 at an impossibly high bar.

Taylor Sheridan’s hit series starring Kevin Costner reached a series high for viewing figures on Sunday.

Its season four finale, Grass on the Streets and Weeds on the Rooftops, pulled in 9.3 million live viewers according to Live+Same Day rankings.

This smashed its last record of just over five million fans tuning in to the last episode of season three.

Yellowstone has also been setting records across cable viewers throughout its 2021 season.

Its season premiere drew in over eight million viewers, a first for the series, and its popularity throughout the latest run made it the number one most-watched show in 2021.

Season four’s finale has also become the most-watched cable broadcast since The Walking Dead’s season eight premiere in 2017.

The series has also achieved top ranks in the adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 demographics across cable services.

Episode 10 of the latest run came to a quieter yet equally devastating end compared to the bloodbath of season three.

After being blackmailed into killing his father Garrett Randall (played by Will Patton), Jamie Dutton (Wes Bentley) is once again under the thumb of his sister Beth (Kelly Reilly).

Meanwhile, ranch owner John (Kevin Costner) has a fight on his hands after activist and love interest Summer (Piper Perabo) received a cruel jail sentence of over 30 years.

Finally, the ranch still has enemies closing in as Market Equities CEO Caroline Warner (Jacki Weaver) has just made the fight for the Duttons’ land personal.

With the future of the series looking even more secure, fans are still eagerly awaiting an announcement from the Paramount Network.

Unfortunately, official confirmation of a fifth season has yet to surface.

Viewers who are desperate for more Yellowstone thankfully have the show’s first spin-off, 1883, to look forward to each Sunday.

Plus, another offshoot set in the modern-day is in the works, centred on the 6666 Ranch in Texas.

With news of season five hopefully just around the corner, fans have been given their clearest indication from Yellowstone star Cole Hauser.

The actor best known as ranch manager Rip Wheeler promised his followers he’d “See y’all in S5!” in his latest Instagram post.

Does the actor know something fans don’t? Or is he just optimistic after seeing millions of people tuning in over the weekend?

Either way, Yellowstone enthusiasts can rest easy as the show’s skyrocketing popularity can only mean the Duttons are here to stay.

Yellowstone seasons 1-4 are available to stream on the Paramount Network in the USA now. A UK release date is yet to be announced.
