ONE of comedy's most successful players, Judd Apatow has a decades-long career both on-and-off the screen.
He is also the father of two rising stars, Maude and Iris Apatow.

Born on December 6, 1967, Judd Apatow is a comedian, director, producer, and screenwriter.
Growing up, Judd lived in Long Island, New York, where his mother was in charge of Mainstream Records, a music label founded by her dad.
While attending Syosset High School, Judd hosted a radio program called Comedy Club.
He would call famous comedians on the phone, telling them he was working on an interview for a publication.
Judd managed to chat with big-names such as Steve Allen, Howard Stern, and (at the time) the up-and-coming Jerry Seinfeld.
At the age of 17, Judd began his own stand-up career.
He was listed as an Associate Editor of the September 1985 issue of Laugh Factory Magazine – the same year he graduated high school and moved to Los Angeles.
During his college years, Judd studied screenwriting and hosted Comedy Night events.

When did Judd Apatow get his start on-screen?
Judd was hired as a writer for the 1991 Grammy Awards, and went on to co-produce various comedy specials by Roseanne, Tom Arnold, and Jim Carrey.
The following year, he was selected to appear on the 15th Annual Young Comedians Special and executive produced The Ben Stiller Show.
He joined The Larry Sanders Show in 1993 as a writer and producer, eventually directing an episode.
Throughout the late 90s, Judd worked on Heavyweights, The Cable Guy, Liar Liar, Bruce Almighty, Happy Gilmore, and The Wedding Singer.
He became the executive producer for critically-acclaimed series, Freaks and Geeks; he also wrote and directed several episodes.

In 2005, Judd co-wrote and directed The 40-Year-Old Virgin alongside Steve Carell.
The same year, he also co-wrote Fun with Dick and Jane.
Knocked Up was released in 2007, and features his wife – Leslie Mann – and two daughters, Maude and Iris.
The sequel, This Is 40, premiered on December 21, 2012, also featuring his nuclear family.
