Who is Les Dennis?

Les Dennis is a 68-year-old presenter, actor and comedian.

He was born in Liverpool on October 12, 1953, where his dad worked in a betting shop and his mother in a factory.

Les has been married three times. In 1974 he wed Lynne Webster until they got divorced in 1990 before famously marrying Amanda Holden in 1995.

Their marriage lasted until 2003 and he later wed Claire Nicholson in 2009.

He has three children: Philip Heseltine from his first marriage and Eleanor Grace and Thomas Christopher with wife Claire.

Which programmes has Les Dennis starred in?

Les Dennis is best known for presenting Family Fortunes from 1987 to 2001.

Prior to this, he took part in a number of comedy and impressionist TV series.

He partnered with fellow impressionist Dustin Gee and they had a series of their own called The Laughter Show.

Following his exit from Family Fortunes, Les also made guest appearances in Casualty, Merseybeat, Family Affairs and Hotel Babylon.

He appeared on Celebrity Big Brother in 2002 whilst his marriage to Amanda Holden was breaking down.

He also played Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street.

In 2020, he played Graeme in Birds of a Feather alongside his on-screen love interest Dorien Green, played by Lesley Joseph, 76.

Who was Les Dennis' comedy partner Dustin Gee?

Dustin Gee (born Gerald Harrison) was an impressionist and comedian from York.

He formed a double act with Les Dennis and first appeared with him in 1975 on the ITV showcase Who Do You Do?

They also starred in Russ Abbot's Madhouse in which they perfected their hilarious impressions of Corrie's Vera Duckworth and Mavis Riley.

Dustin died of a heart attack in 1986 at the age of 43.

Who did Les Dennis play in Coronation Street?

Les played Michael Rodwell in Coronation Street from 2014 until 2016.

Michael originally first stepped on to the cobbles as a former convict who tried to burgle Gail Platt's house.

He eventually married Gail Platt but they split up after she lied to him.

Michael also had a brief relationship with Eileen Grimshaw but this ended when Pat Phelan interfered.

Les exited Corrie after his character ended up dying of a heart attack while Phelan watched.

Has Les Dennis taken part in any reality TV shows?

In 2002, Les Dennis took part in Celebrity Big Brother – something which he regrets.

During the time his marriage to Amanda Holden was crumbling but he had planned to "reinvent" himself.

Speaking in his autobiography Must The Show Go On? about the experience some six years later, he said: "Hands up – I now accept that I was having an emotional crisis on live television."

Then, in 2013, he took part in Celebrity MasterChef and made it to the final alongside Janet Street-Porter and winner Ade Edmondson.
