Hetti Bywater is mainly known for her infamous role in EastEnders where she played Lucy Beale, who was brutally killed off by her on-screen brother Bobby.

As the star gears up to celebrate her 27th birthday, the Daily Star decided to take a deeper dive to find out what the others who formerly played Ian Beale's twins are up to now.

Since EastEnders first hit our screens back in 1985, the Beale family have been at the forefront of some of the soap's most dramatic moments.

But Ian and Cindy Beale's twins Peter and Lucy were first introduced to The Square in December 1993.

The siblings are known for their ever-changing faces and tragic storylines, but it's not always been doom and gloom for the family.

As of late, the Beales have created an empire in Albert Square – with Ian owning the restaurant, cafe, chippy, pub and fruit and veg stall, while mum Kathy runs her own gay bar.

So what happened to the cast members who played the Beale twins once they left EastEnders? Let's take a look…

Melissa Suffield

Melissa, now 28, played Lucy from 2004 to 2010 and was reportedly axed for her "unruly behaviour", according to the Daily Star Sunday.

The actress allegedly ignored multiple warnings from the show's top table about her antics.

Stating on her web page after her exit in August 2010, Melissa confessed: "I was a naughty girl outside of work, well that's what they have sacked me for, pathetic!

"It was in the rules and I did have three warnings… I'm gutted. But it's all my fault."

After being replaced, Melissa then went on to star in Casualty and played a part in a musical about Marilyn Monroe in 2015.

Nine years after getting the boot, she got engaged to Robert Brendan, who she had been dating for a whopping nine years.

In March 2021, the couple welcomed their first child, River Jefferson Carter-Robinson, who she described as a "perfect little human" on her Instagram account.

Alongside a post of her son, she added: "We could not be more obsessed with you."

The soap star's Instagram handle has also recently been changed to "the.confidentmama" since becoming a body positive advocate.

With 25,000 followers, she often confidently shows off her curves while posing lavish lingerie.

Hetti Bywater

Hetti took over as Lucy in 2012 and would be the last ever actress to play the character as a result of her brutal death.

She only lasted two years following the murder that killed her character off in April 2014 as part of an explosive whodunnit mystery that went on for a year until the 30th-anniversary special.

Hetti returned for the dramatic live flashback episode in April 2014 where viewers discovered that it was her little brother Bobby who was the culprit.

After leaving EastEnders, Hetti then starred as a character called Jess Chambers in Death In Paradise in 2015.

The actress also featured in two episodes of Sky One's Delicious, which also boasted Dawn French, Emilia Fox and Iain Glen as part of the cast.

Hetti was also spotted pulling pints at a North London pub in April 2017, while she was between acting jobs.

In March this year, she slammed pub-revellers for ignoring Boris Jonhson's advice before lockdown.

During an Instagram video, a masked-up Hetti said: "Walking past a pub with loads of people in. It's a little bit distressing right now."

"I am staying secluded not for fear for myself but in the hope of keeping others safe.

"As we all should be trying to do. We need to protect the vulnerable."

Last month, Hetti also confessed that she was "glad" that her character Lucy was killed off after someone commented on her social media posts.

She agreed to their points, writing: "I'm glad Bobby killed Lucy too, I hated her."

Thomas Law

Thomas Law played Ian's boy from 2006 until 2010 during his teen years and is now 28 years old.

After leaving the BBC soap, he made his stage debut in 2010 when he played Peter Pan in a Salford pantomime.

Like his onscreen sister Melissa, he starred in Casualty and then went on to feature in the hit film The World's End, playing a younger version of Simon Pegg's character.

Thomas also landed a spot in a Lynx deodorant advert, revealing on Instagram: "Filmed this clip towards the end of last year with a fun, great working team out in Warsaw, Poland!"

In June this year, Thomas left his fans gobsmacked by showcasing a tremendous body transformation.

The actor did an amazing job in changing his exterior himself from a trim teen into an astonishing built adult.

The actor credited ruthless workouts with a personal trainer for his new look.

Posing topless in a pair of grey sports shorts with his t-shirt wrapped around his fists, Thomas showed off his hard work when uploading a throwback snap to when he had been working out hard.

He captioned the post: “#tbt to when I fully listened to everything that @billybwfit told me to do, lol.”

Ben Hardy

The hunkiest of all the Peter Beales, Ben Hardy stepped into the character's shoes in June 2013.

He had the reigns for Peter's grittiest storylines, including the death of twin sister Lucy at the hands of younger brother Bobby.

Ben made his last appearance in February 2015 in the live reveal episode, where it was confirmed that Bobby was the killer.

After leaving the soap, the rising star immediately set his sights on Hollywood.

Ben admitted it wasn't too different to Albert Square, telling the Sun: "LA is big, although Hollywood's not as glamorous as I thought, it's kind of grungy.

"It's not too much of a leap from EastEnders in that sense."

Ben made his film debut in massive blockbuster X: Men Apocalypse in 2017 as winged mutant Archangel.

He went on to star in another Bryan Singer-directed movie, Bohemian Rhapsody, as Queen star Roger Taylor.

He also appeared in Only the Brave, 6 Underground, and has roles in upcoming films Pixie and The Voyeurs.

Peter Beale is now played by Dayle Hudson, who took over the role when the character returned last year.
