WES Nelson has been ruled out of joining Celebs Go Dating after his ex-girlfriend Megan Barton-Hanson threatened to walk if he did.
We can reveal bosses were forced to tear up plans for the 21-year-old to join the E4 dating hit with 25-year-old Megan mid-way through the series.
A source told The Sun Online: "There was a big plan to get Wes onto the show but Megan heard about it and wasn't keen.
"No-one wants to be dating with their ex hanging around and she made her feelings perfectly clear.
"The situation would have been too awkward to bear and in the end it was a deal-breaker. Either bosses got Wes or they got her – not both.
"However, while the timing wasn't right this time, Wes was told the door is open for him to appear on Celebs Go Dating in the future."
Wes, who was runner-on on Dancing On Ice this year, was going to be signed up as a surprise late entrant to the show.
However, he will now not appear alongside the likes of Lady Colin Campbell, Jack Fincham, Lauren Goodger, Nathan Henry, Lee Ryan – and his ex.
Yesterday, Megan was seen with her co-stars dressed in a Great Gatsby-esque outfit during filming.
She and former engineer Wes broke up after six months together in January, after meeting in the Love Island villa.
At the time, he had been spending hours rehearsing for the ITV ice-skating show alongside pro dancer Vanessa Bauer, 22.
He later admitted: “Dancing on Ice was not the only problem in our relationship. It wasn’t the sole cause of it ending.
"Would it have been easier? Yeah, absolutely, because this takes up so much of my time."
Meanwhile Megan told The Sun Online that she was now open to dating both men and women.
She explained: "I just felt like I needed to get with a guy because society said so but after the s*** I've been through, I just want to see how it goes with a woman.
"I first fell in love with a girl when I was 16, but it wasn't even in a sexual way. I never saw her just in that way, but we'd like hang out, and one thing led to another.
"We would do everything together. I found her more and more attractive, and not even the way she looked, just like the way she was in general.
"I just feel like I have a deeper connection with women."
