The Masked Singer US: Fox tease the identity of 'Sun'
The fourth season of top secret talent show The Masked Singer took a much needed break tonight by entertaining fans with a holiday sing-along. Unfortunately, some dutiful Fox viewers were less than pleased with this week’s format ahead of the grand finale.
Several fans of The Masked Singer have already expressed their irritation at this week’s format shake-up leading up to Christmas.
Rather than the usual competition, this week fans settled down to enjoy a Holiday Sing-Along, featuring new performances from this year’s finalists, Mushroom, Crocodile and the Sun.
Unfortunately, Fox also filled the air time with repeated clips from this season’s competition, which kicked off back in September.
Throughout the episode, fans sounded off on social media when they realised the series was putting off the final reveals for another week.

On Twitter one fan said: “What the heck? They just said they’re singing holiday songs?? This is an old performance.”
While other viewers worked themselves into a frenzy on Reddit as they wondered why a pre-recorded series would postpone the finale to make way for old clips.
One wrote: “Why are they showing us something we already saw?? If they can record them unmasked at home, they couldn’t have them sing?”
And another added: “I agree. I just have no desire to see another filler episode. Just get to the competition.”
This episode proved doubly frustrating as there weren’t even any new clues to be found, so fans were unable to improve their theories for the identities of the final three.
The Masked Singer’s special episodes haven’t been a staple for long, as the first sing-along special aired earlier this year during the third season.
However, this year’s Christmas extravaganza caused a far greater outrage from fans, as the previous special was broadcast before the contestants entered the quarter finals.
With just one stage of the competition left, some viewers found this week’s episode too painful to sit through as we’re still no closer to crowning this season’s winner.

Meanwhile, still more fans were baffled by this week’s choice of seasonal hits.
One viewer remarked: “Is My Heart Will Go On commonly considered a holiday song? I’m confused.”
While another fan quipped: “Ah yes, I Can’t Get No Satisfaction, my favorite Christmas song.”
If there was any solace to be found this week, it was in the exciting preview of upcoming spin-off series, The Masked Dancer.
Originally born as a spoof segment on Ellen Degeneres’ talk show, host Craig Robinson and a new slate of masked performers will embrace the absurdity and show off their moves from December 27.
After this week’s debacle, fans are more eager than ever to tune in next week’s two-hour finale and finally discover who’s behind the remaining masks.
Plus, the series has already been renewed for a fifth season, so there’s always a chance Fox has caught wind of fans’ hatred for sing-along clip shows.
The Masked Singer season 4 concludes Wednesday, December 16 on Fox.
