The Boys renewed for third season – before second series even hits Amazon Prime – The Sun

THE third season of The Boys has officially been given the green light – even though the second season is yet to be released.

The popular suphero show plans to begin production early next year, conrtinuing to track the nefarious antics of Vought Industries.

Series creator Eric Kripke said: "We hope to be shooting in early 2021, but that’s up to a microscopic virus."

During the SDCC 2020 panel for the hit comic book series, producers Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg showed up to announce that The Boys season 3 was already given the green light by Amazon in anticipation of its second season, due in September.

The series focuses on super-powered individuals who are owned by a powerful corporation called Vought International, which markets them and makes money out of their skills, even created a league of mutated terrorists for them to fight against.

Actor Jessie T. Usher, who plays A-Train on the hit series, revealed during the Comic Con Q&A : “Something that I like a lot about the show that is unique is that in a world with superheroes, the ones you know and love aren’t the only ones who exist."

Additionally, it was revealed that Emmy Award-winning host Aisha Tyler will serve as host and executive producer of the official The Boys aftershow Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys.

In each episode members of the cast, creative team and other special guests will join Tyler as they dissect the events that unfold in each episode.

After the panel was concluded, Eric Kripke said: "As if that wasn’t enough, we’re bringing you a season 2 after-show, Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys. Double entendre intended.

"Hosted by the incomparable Aisha Tyler and guest starring the cast and crew, it’s a deep dive into how we make this insane thing. Seriously, thanks to Sony, Amazon and the fans. We love making this show so much, and we’re thrilled we get to make more."

Prime Rewind: Inside The Boys, is executive produced by Michael Davies, Aisha Tyler, Julia Cassidy, Eden Sutley and Jennifer Ryan and will launch on 28th August.

A look back at season one will kick off on 4th September and from then on each episode will dive into each installment as it rolls out weekly, through to the season finale on 9th October.

The Boys Season 2 premieres September 4 on Amazon Prime Video.
