The Masked Dancer and Dancing On Ice judge will host the dating series where hopeful romantics serenade potential partners on a balcony. The contestant will be able to hear the singer but not see them and must judge the potential suitor on their vocal skills alone.

Once a singer has lured a contestant down from the balcony, the pair will record a duet and battle other singing couples to win in the seven-part series.

Oti makes her presenting debut after appearing as a professional dancer on Strictly since 2015. She has won the show twice, with Kelvin Fletcher in 2019 and Bill Bailey in 2020. The 31-year-old has hinted last year’s series of Strictly could be her last.

She said: “I’m so excited. It’s always been a dream of mine to host, so this is a real pinch-me moment.

“It’s a blessing for me to finally be able to share this news. I can’t wait to get started! It’s about love with a little bit of a twist and a showcase of talent. I hope everyone’s going to love it as much as I do.”

Oti, who married dancer Marius Lepure in 2014, was a judge on BBC dating show I Like The Way U Move, where professional dancers looked for romance with a non-dancer.

Katie Rawcliffe, Head of Entertainment Commissioning at ITV, said: “Oti is the perfect choice to host this entertaining cross between music and matchmaking.”

Production for Romeo And Duet starts this month, and the series will air later this year.
