It Takes Two host Rylan Clark-Neal was joined by McFly singer Tom Fletcher and dance partner Amy Dowden on Monday night for another instalment of the BBC Two show. After introducing the pair to the Strictly spin-off, Rylan was quick to congratulate Amy on winning a Welsh BAFTA for her Crohn’s documentary, where she detailed how emotional she got.

Rylan welcomed Tom and Amy to the show and immediately exclaimed: “Now before we chat Strictly, can we just say congratulations on your Welsh BAFTA Amy!

“Honestly, that documentary about Crohn’s was unbelievable. If no-one has seen it at home, go and watch it now because it’s brilliant, it’s on the iPlayer, congrats. How are you feeling?”

Laughing at his excitement and being overjoyed about her win, she replied: “Thank you, yeah quite emotional when I got into the rehearsal room this morning, Tom looked at me and I just cried.”

Tom went on to joke: “She’s changed since she won a BAFTA, she said to me earlier, ‘Have you won a BAFTA?’ No, I haven’t, Amy.

“No, but it’s amazing. Everyone go watch the documentary it’s incredible, congratulations, very proud of you, Amy,” he said, praising her.

Rylan then spoke about their performance on Saturday night, where they did the Salsa to Watermelon Sugar by Harry Styles.

“What a performance at the weekend, Tom, what was going on there?” to which Tom bluntly replied: “I have no idea.

“It was all a blur, on Thursday, we couldn’t do that dance (and) I dropped Amy, she kneed me in the head, which was my fault.

“It was my fault because I didn’t commit to the lift, it was just a wreck, so the fact that we got from not being able to do it on a Thursday to that on a Saturday night and being told it was our best dance,” he explained.

Eagerly, Rylan added: “Tom, I thought it was great, I was told as well because I have eyes and ears everywhere you were so nervous Saturday night about to go on.”

Amy nodded along in agreement and said: “I think you were just nervous about the lifts going wrong really after the Thursday.

“We’ve never had a Thursday like it, honestly we couldn’t get through the routine. We even invited Tilly and Nikita into the training room to watch our performance.”

Interrupting Amy, Tom added: “She thought a bit of pressure from an audience would help me get through it, no, that was when I fell on my head.

“So that went horribly wrong, and I think I as well was dreading this one, I just thought it’s so not me like trying to be cool and trendy and sexy.”

Rylan immediately stopped Tom and exclaimed: “Oh, leave it out, your cool, trendy and sexy Tom, leave it out!

“There was a lot of technical moves, there was a couple of knocks every now and again, you took it on the chin quite literally.”

However, Tom admitted he didn’t notice and was only told by people watching their performance that Amy hit him in the face during a lift.

Tom and Amy received an eight from Craig Revel Horwood and Anton Du Beke, whilst Motsi Mabuse and head judge Shirley Ballas gave them a nine.

Totalling a score of 34 out of a possible 40, that was the duo’s highest score since they first started on the show and landed them fifth on the leaderboard.

Through the votes of the public combined with the judges’ scores, Tom and Amy made it through to Week Six, which will see the contestants battle it out in Halloween Week.
