Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ) was more determined than ever to cheer Rainie Branning (Tanya Franks) up in EastEnders during tonight’s two instalments, and — with a little help from adversary Linda Carter (Kellie Bright) — he came up with the solution to all his problems, as he decided to propose, but — unfortunuately for him — it didn’t go as he’d hoped.
Rainie has been suffering from low self-esteem ever since someone she used to know as a punter showed up in the funeral parlour, and proceeded to make her feel bad about herself.
Stuart resolved to put a smile back on her face, but doing so was much harder than he initially hoped it would be, and a few harsh words from Linda certainly didn’t help matters.
However, Stuart’s not one for giving up on those he cares about, and therefore he resolved to make a big gesture during tonight’s second instalment, but Callum’s (Tony Clay) advice made him realise that he needed to go bigger.
After a discussion with Linda, Stuart knew what he needed to do, and therefore he decided to propose to Rainie in Walford East. However, the proposal itself didn’t go as planned, as Rainie was horrified, and proceeded to knock the ring out of his hand.
The two argued about the matter in front of all those in attendance, as Stu frantically searched for the ring.
As they agreed the timing wasn’t quite right, Rainie agreed to help him look for the missing piece of jewellery.
Will they manage to reconcile properly?
