Spoilers: Mick's history with abuser Katy Lewis explained in EastEnders

Mick Carter (Danny Dyer) opened up in EastEnders tonight (November 6) about how he felt like Katy Lewis (Simone Lahbib) looked out for him while he was in care.

With Shirley (Linda Henry) having demanded an explanation regarding Mick’s obsession with locating Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis), the former pub landlord proceeded to open up.

However, he withheld the fact that Frankie believes she is his daughter.

The showdown ensued in No. 1 Albert Square, and Shirley listened carefully as Mick explained why he was so fond of Katy.

He described his 12-year-old self as a ‘problem kid’, recalling how the staff at the care home ‘had his card marked.’

Katy offered what he then believed to be support, after she left a note informing him that she was there if he needed to talk.

The former Queen Vic landlord discussed how the care-worker told him stuff about the other kids — such as why they were put in a care home — which ‘gave him a bit of ammo.’

Shirley was perturbed by such a thing, and she was left questioning Katy’s motives as Mick explained that the care-worker used to buy him lager,

The Carter patriarch attempted to stay in contact with Katy — right up until Lee (Danny Hatchard) went to secondary school, at which point it all seemingly stopped.

Mick didn’t reveal that Katy abused him, nor did he confirm that Frankie was his daughter, but — with her son evidently thinking very highly of this woman — Shirley decided to make contact.

As the episode concluded, Katy arrived in Walford.
