Sir Lenny Henry unveiled as Blob on The Masked Singer leaving judges shocked in double elimination

Fans of the Masked Singer were convinced that Blob was Sir Lenny Henry – and it turns out they weren’t wrong!

The star was unmasked on Saturday 30 January as the baffled panellists looked on.

Blob had performed three times so far on the show, wowing the public with his renditions of Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk, Cameo’s Word Up and Pitbull’s Hotel Room.

During his time on the show, Lenny had dropped hints including that he’d been called “four eyes” in the past, and that he’d “recorded a demo for Simon Cowell.”

Sir Lenny also revealed he’s a “bit of an academic,” and was “named after a doctor.”

Eagle-eyed fans who watched on took to the internet to do some digging and they found out Lenny was recently awarded his PhD from Royal Holloway, University of London and that he was named after the doctor who delivered him.

And it turns out the fan predictions were in fact correct, with Lenny taking off his mask and showing it to be him.

It was Blob, Viking and Dragon in the bottom three and Viking was revealed to be Morten Harket just before Blob’s identity was revealed.

Judges Davina McCall, Jonathan Ross, Rita Ora and Mo Gilligan had been sharing guesses for weeks but the double twist came when show host Joel Dommett revealed not one but two characters would be leaving this week.

So far we’ve seen a fair few famous faces unveiled, with singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor revealed to be Alien.

In episode two another famous singer was unmasked and it was Spice Girls star Mel B who was hiding as The Seahorse.

Of the show, Mel said: "You get to not be yourself for a second," while calling it "great."

In the next episode, we found out the Swan was actress Martine McCutcheon and in episode four Grandfather Clock was revealed to be former footballer Glen Hoddle.

Episode five saw Bush Baby revealed to be comedian John Thomson.

We’ve still got a few left to guess though, including Sausage, who fans believe to be Stacey Solomon.

A TikTok user filmed an advert promoting Saturday's episode, in which Alan Carr appears as a guest judge.

As the various figures flash on the screen, smash hit song That's Not My Name by The Ting Tings plays in the background.

Then as the lyric "….they call me Stacey…" is sung, the colourful Sausage appears on screen.

The user writes over the video: "IT SAYS STACEY ON SAUSAGE!!! Is that a clueee". [sic]

That is enough to convince many that the former X Factor star is inside the costume.
