On Wednesday, chaos erupted at the House of Commons after MPs voted to rip up the standards rules to block the suspension of Owen Paterson, who was found to have used his job to lobby for two private companies he was linked to. The decision angered Labour MPs, and this morning, the Tory MP was the main topic of conversation.

During Thursday’s Good Morning Britain, ITV hosts Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway spoke with the Secretary of State about the decision to block Paterson’s suspension.

However, the interview quickly got heated between Shephard and Kwarteng as the host question whether it was convenient the Tory MPs were “looking after their own”.
