Royal Family Followers Still Can't Stand Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie

With the introduction of Meghan Markle into the royal family via her relationship with Prince Harry and the birth of the new baby, there’s a lot to keep track of in terms of the British royals. And while it may seem like it’s the same five or so folks hogging the spotlight, we can’t forget about Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. These two are the daughters of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, and they love to share aspects of their royal lives as well.

Beatrice and Eugenie have sworn they’re just as down-to-earth and normal as the rest of us — but it seems many followers of the royal family can’t stand them. Here’s what everyone’s talking about.

Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie are known for their parents’ scandals

While Beatrice and Eugenie have never done anything too scandalous, the same can’t be said for their parents. Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson may have the most dramatic history of anyone in the royal family. They met back in 1985 thanks to Princess Diana and married the following year — but their wedded bliss was short-lived. After the media caught wind that Fergie was allegedly cheating on Andrew since Andrew was seemingly away for months at a time with the Navy, their marriage rapidly deteriorated until their divorce in 1996.

It didn’t end there, however. Today, Fergie and Andrew maintain that they have an amazing relationship, which makes many wonder if they’ll ever get back together. They reportedly are still living with one another, and they even helped plan Eugenie’s wedding in 2018. Royals fans are definitely keeping an eye on Andrew and Fergie (perhaps even more so than on Beatrice and Eugenie) since their behavior is so odd and unpredictable.

Some are still calling Eugenie and Beatrice ‘cringeworthy’ and unrelatable

Royals’ followers (and the royal family in general) certainly have their opinions of Andrew and Fergie, but it seems many also think Beatrice and Eugenie are putting on a strange and unlikeable facade. Eugenie and Beatrice aren’t working royals, meaning they don’t do anything official to represent the royal family at events. Instead, they’ve gone their own way and now “work” for other businesses — though many have mentioned that they seem to vacation a lot more than they’re working.

During a Vogue interview, the sisters still maintained that they’re “very real,” however, and Eugenie also spoke to the legitimacy of their work. “We want to show people who we are as working, young, royal women, but also not to be afraid of putting ourselves out there,” she said. Unfortunately, not everyone believes her. The royal editor of the Daily Mirror called them “cringeworthy,” the Daily Express notes. “The very fact that they are talking about the pressures of their personal lives, about being young independent woman while being members of the Royal Family – it’s just a bit too much to stomach for some people, myself included,” editor Russel Myers said during a podcast.

Royal family fans are annoyed by them, too

It’s not just the royal editor that can’t stand Beatrice and Eugenie. Royal followers on Reddit explained how they feel about the princesses, too. “William and Harry have the magical Diana protection on them. Whereas Beatrice and Eugenie are just posh slappers like their mother,” one Reddit user noted. And another said, “Beatrice has apparently been on 18 holidays in the last 12 months, which hasn’t done much for her reputation either, and Andrew has repeatedly resisted moves by the Queen to reduce the level of privileges his daughters get.”

While some internet users are clearly annoyed with the sisters, others have noted they forget they’re even relevant at all since they are seemingly overshadowed by Meghan and Harry or William and Kate. “I don’t hate them, they are all precisely nothing to me,” another Reddit user said. “I sometimes forget they even exist,” one more user noted.
