Good Morning Britain turned awkward when stand-in presenter Richard Madeley told his co-star Susanna Reid to "shhh".
The 65-year-old veteran TV star and regular host Susanna, 50, were joined by doctor Hilary Jones and Rustie Lee who had joined via video link to discuss hugging.
Doctor Hilary Jones, 68 and Rustie, 72, clashed over whether it was now safe to embrace friends and loved ones.
The TV medical expert was adamant that people should not be hugging just yet with his advice being clear that "we are still in a pandemic".
While Rustie shared a different view on the matter and was happy to hug those she felt close to if they had been vaccinated and were being careful.
After the disagreement broke out on-air, Richard interjected that he would need "mouthwash" to help with keeping Covid at bay.
His claim shocked Susanna who attempted to call him out but was shut down as he told her to "shhh".
