Piers Morgan slams Sex And The City reboot without Kim Cattrall’s Samantha and says it should be renamed ‘the City’

PIERS Morgan has slammed the Sex And The City remake after it was announced Kim Cattrall would not be returning for the show's revival.

The Good Morning Britain host took to Twitter to share his outrage at the news, dubbing the new series "pointless" without Kim portraying Samantha Jones.

Piers, 55, retweeted the news that Sex And The City would be returning to HBO, but without American actress Kim, 64.

He told his following the reboot should be called "The City" without the iconic – if not crucial – character.

"Sex And The City without Kim Cattrall should be named The City," Piers wrote in response. "This is pointless."

Not alone in his thinking, fans quickly flooded the comments to agree that a "huge mistake" was being made in continuing without the actress.

"Exactly what myself and all my pals said and I’m sure most of the fans of the tv show – it's almost pointless," wrote human rights lawyer David Haigh.

"Bring Kim back or don't bother. She is 90 per cent of the show if not more."

Another man agreed: "Without Kim in this role, it’s meaningless a watch. She was the best and the funniest."

"It's nothing without Kim," chimed in a third. "She made the show what it is today. Setting themselves up for an epic fail without her!"

Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in the hit show, confirmed Sex And The City would be making a comeback last week.

The 55-year-old took to Instagram to reveal the news, posting a short clip of various scenes in New York City as a mystery pair of hands type onto a computer screen: "The story continues."

HBO first aired the show from 1998 to 2004, with two movies soon following – but now fans will be treated to seeing the ageing stars "where they are now".

The outlet revealed the revival will follow the ladies as they "navigate love and friendship in their 50s" in 10 brand new episodes.

For many, it came as no surprise that Kim turned down an appearance on the revival since she has not seen eye-to-eye with Sarah Jessica Parker for many years.

In 2019, Kim told the Daily Mail that she would "never" return to the franchise, saying: "You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to work with good people and try and make it fun."

She then ripped into Sarah Jessica, after the actress shared her condolences following the death of Kim's late brother.

Kim wrote on Instagram: "I don't need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.

"My mom asked me today, 'When will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?' Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now.

"Let me make this VERY clear (if I haven't already). You are not my family. You are not my friend.

"I am writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore you 'nice girl' persona."

Kim is yet to comment on the show's revival, which is set to begin production in NYC in late spring.
