This Morning host Phillip Schofield underwent a coronavirus test on Thursday in order to start filming safely for a TV programme for the festive period. The 58-year-old presenter documented the “horrible” but necessary experience and posted footage online, which showed him wincing as the medical staff performed the procedure.
Phillip, who released a revealing autobiography yesterday, was required to have the COVID-19 test before joining the cast and crew of How To Spend It Well.
The production team are set to pre-record a Christmas special of the ITV show which will try out some of the most popular festive buys.
“Keeping #HowToSpendIt safe!” Phillip wrote alongside a video which showed him undergoing the test.
The invasive examination involves taking a swab from inside the nose and the back of the throat.
“That’s horrible,” the father-of-two said after the first swab was taken.
The second swab required the nurse to hold Phillip’s head in place so he did not make any sudden movements.
“I’m just going to pop my hand behind your head so you don’t pull away,” she could be heard informing him.
“Ok,” the nervous TV host replied.

“It’s natural to just back away,” the tester continued.
“All for a festive show. Merry fe****g Christmas,” Phillip jokingly captioned the social media video, which he shared with his 3.2 million followers.
Earlier in the day, Phillip could be seen in the This Morning dressing room with his co-star and friend Holly Willoughby.
The 39-year-old was holding a copy of Phillip’s new book Life’s What You Make It, when she revealed she hadn’t read it yet, despite featuring in the publication.
