The Beale family are thrown into one of their biggest turmoils tonight – and that’s saying something for an EastEnders clan which has had more dramas than the works of Shakespeare. As Bobby (Clay Milner Russell) remains estranged from stubborn dad Ian (Adam Woodyatt), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) needs to turn to Peter in a time of huge crisis.
Fans last saw Peter jet off to New Zealand with Lauren, wearing the face of Ben Hardy. However, tonight, the new actor is Dayle Hudson – and he is begged by Kathy to come home after Bobby is brutally attacked in an Islamophobic assault.
Dennis Rickman (Bleu Landau) has been spreading hate about Bobby online and when a gang recognises Bobby, they launch an attack that sees him so violently injured that he needs emergency treatment in hospital.
As Ian and Kathy fear that he won’t make it, Ian rushes off to the party boat to have a showdown with Dennis while Kathy is needed by her son Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden) as he searches for Callum Highway (Tony Clay).
As Kathy contacts Peter to come and be by his brother’s side, he arrives back but he has troubles of his own as the reason for his split with Lauren starts to become clear – and triggers a fight between Max and Jack Branning (Jake Wood and Scott Maslen).
With Peter fighting his own demons, is he really the glue that can patch up the broken Beale family – or will he just bring more heartache their way?
Dayle said: ‘I am really grateful and excited to have the opportunity to work on such an institution of British television, alongside some incredible actors. Peter has been away for some time so I can’t wait to find out what he’s been up to and I’m very excited to see what the future holds for him.’
