Criminal genius The Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) and his team will return for one last fight in the upcoming second volume of Money Heist season five. The Spanish Netflix hit has been teased with an exciting new trailer, and some fans are already preparing for the series to end with a bloodbath.

The Professor has joined his fellow robbers on the frontlines for the very first time in the official trailer for Money Heist’s final season.

As the crew prepare for one last fight, the mastermind makes the stunning decision to surrender himself to the police.

Diehard viewers are sure the Professor has one last trick up his sleeve as he enters the Bank of Spain for the first time.

However, there’s also a chance he’s prepared to make the ultimate sacrifice to ensure the safety of his devoted teammates.

The trailer has already built up a tragic end to the series, with Stockholm (Esther Acebo) and Denver (Jaime Lorente) both in tears by the end of the teaser.

Still mourning the loss of Nairobi (Alba Flores), tragedy struck yet again in season five when Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó) blew herself up in order to take down Gandia (José Manuel Poga).

Sadly, viewers are more convinced than ever that the series will conclude with even more death now they’ve been given their first glimpse at the Professor’s fate.

One fan commented on the trailer to remind viewers of an ominous conversation with Berlin (Pedro Alonso) which may have sealed the Professor’s fate.

YouTube user Nirav Thakkar wrote: “Professor always told Berlin the heist was suicidal.

“So definitely some plan must be there to how this should end successfully.”

As leader of the two heists shown in the series, the Professor has been the number one priority for the police throughout the first four seasons of Money Heist.

While the team managed to get away scot-free from the Royal Mint, the Professor may have realised his second heist can’t be successful unless he lets the police take him down.

He may have agreed to give himself and the gang up, only to double-cross the police and liberate his team from the inside.

With the police distracted, Palermo (Rodrigo de la Serna), Rio (Miguel Herrán) will be free to make a hasty exit while the Professor suffers a tragic fate inside the Bank.

Speculation has also reached a frenzy on Reddit, as many more fans are convinced the team will escape thanks to the Professor’s sacrifice.

User JackJack909 theorised: “Maybe he made a deal to let him enter so they could kill him with the others as they probably couldn’t do it if they find him outside the bank.”

“This does probably mean he will die to try and save the gang.”

And ifailed_everyone posted: “I am more scared than ever that the Professor is turning himself in by standing in front of the bank and he will die in the same way his father did.”

The Professor’s original heist was based on his father’s plan before he was brutally shot down by the police years before the events of the series.

Therefore, the police could catch wind of his schemes and take him down in the same way, bringing his story to a fitting, yet terrible end.

Money Heist season five, volume two will be released on Friday, December 3 on Netflix.
