Netflix subscribers are already preparing for the worst after criminal mastermind The Professor (played by Álvaro Morte) was seen escorted by police in the latest trailer. However, Money Heist fans are even more concerned for the rest of the team as the new footage of the final chapter was accompanied by a distinctly foreboding piece of music.
The second half of Money Heist’s fifth season is nearly upon us, and fans have wasted no time in analysing every detail of the new trailer.
Several tense and violent scenes have been revealed, though the fates of the Professor’s team are still unknown.
Viewers have been distraught after the latest seasons killed off fan favourites Nairobi (Alba Flores) and Tokyo (Úrsula Corberó).
The death of the Professor would be the most natural progression, but a worrying clue in the final trailer proves no one is safe once the Bank of Spain heist comes to an end.
One observant fan recently took to Reddit when they realised the soundtrack for the trailer could be a sinister warning for the remaining characters.
User Zealousideal_Cook248 posted: “Idk if people know what the meaning of this song is but the song itself is called: The Funeral.”
The iconic pop ballad by Band of Horses has been used a number of times across film and TV, perhaps most notably in CBS’ long-running sitcom How I Met Your Mother.
This fan explained the comedy series used the track to foreshadow a pivotal death in the final season, and Money Heist could be doing the same.
“My theory is that we will see multiple funerals,” they continued.
“I’m not going to say that Tokyo is the only one that survived because they just slapped us in the face with that.
“But I don’t think they chose this song because they liked it. Several characters will die.”
Before season five got underway with the first five episodes in September, most viewers assumed the show’s narrator, Tokyo, would be making it out alive.

Due to the series’ bloodthirsty nature, one of the most popular theories headed into the final season proposed Tokyo would be the team’s sole survivor.
Sadly, it seems this won’t be the case as her death was all but guaranteed when she took out mercenary Gandia (Jose Manuel Poga) with a handful of grenades.
Even so, the basis of the theory could still hold some water after the use of Funeral in the trailer.
Tokyo may no longer be among the living, but most if not all of her fellow robbers could join her after engaging the Spanish police in one final battle.
The sneak peek has confirmed the likes of Rio (Miguel Herrán), Denver (Jaime Lorente) and Stockholm (Esther Acebo) are still holding their own within the walls of the bank.
Plus, the ingenious Professor may have been able to set up contingencies for the stolen gold if things go south in the final stages.
The robbers may not be able to reap the benefits of their last heist, but the Professor and his team could go down as heroes if they make the ultimate sacrifice in Money Heist’s epic conclusion.
Money Heist season 5, part 2 will be released on Friday, December 3 on Netflix.
