Married at First Sight Australia series eight has had fans on the edge of their seats with awkward couplings, an affair and blazing rows left, right and centre. One particular couple who has been thrown into the spotlight are Bryce Ruthven and Melissa Rawson who were one of the first pairings on the E4 show. But his behaviour since getting married has been questionable almost from the very beginning.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from MAFS Australia.

Despite having what seemed to be a great wedding and first night together, Bryce went on to state how Melissa wasn’t his usual physical type.

He then went on to state all the features which didn’t make her the way he wanted, especially the fact she didn’t have blue eyes.

Later on when she wanted reassurance from her new husband, Bryce threatened to walk out if she dared every question him again.

Fans have believed this to be “gaslighting” with Match’s body language and dating expert Hayley Quinn labelling his attitude as “worrying”.

But viewers grew even more concerned when rumours started circling about Bryce already having a girlfriend.

Did Bryce have a girlfriend on the outside?

The rumour mill started when Rebecca Zemek said Bryce told her he bought a present for another woman who was waiting for him on the outside.

Bryce denied this at the time and called her a “liar” before arguing with her partner Jake Edwards.

When Bryce and Melissa were in Canberra to visit his family, Bryce’s friends were heard discussing this mysterious woman.

As the film crew were pretending to pack up, they caught on camera one of them asking: “Do you think he’s lied to her?” with another replying: “Yep, yeah no doubt.”

Another friend then piped up saying: “Because the gift thing is true.”

Fellow bride Samantha Harvey also told Melissa how she heard Bryce had been texting another woman.

Reportedly, Bryce was seeing someone called Courtney, with the pair pictured at a friend’s wedding just a few weeks before he became part of the experiment.

He allegedly asked her to wait for him but then broke up with her just a couple of weeks prior to filming coming to an end.

Despite all of this, Bryce has continued to deny he had a girlfriend on the outside.

He told TV Week: “It’s news to me. I was only in the ACT for 12 weeks so I must have been having a good time.

“To be honest, I know there’s articles and podcasts and other rubbish floating around but I’m just not reading it.”

Melissa told Today Extra she had a conversation with the mysterious Courtney and had no concerns about her interactions with Bryce.

While the majority of MAFSA fans may have been worried about Melissa’s welfare, she and Bryce are still together a year on after filming ended.

Not only that, they are now engaged and have welcomed twin boys into the world.

Born 10 weeks prematurely, Melissa and Bryce called their sons Levi and Tate.

Married at First Sight Australia is currently airing on  E4 in the UK.
