Luxury flat with cinema room in its own private cave goes on sale for £325,000

This property is something special for two major reasons.

The first is that it’s inside St Mary’s Gate House, which was originally built as the French Consulate in Nottingham.

The second is that the flat has its very own cave.

Now, you might be thinking: ‘Why would I want my own cave? I’m not a supervillain.’

But this cave is actually quite lovely, as it’s been turned into a home cinema room. What’s cooler than inviting your pals round for a movie night in the cave?

The apartment is up for sale with a guide price of £325,000 (not bad) through Liberty Gate Nottingham via OnTheMarket.

It’s got a cool history, as back in 1989 the building was crafted for the French Consulate, initially built for the Vice Consul of France at the time.

In 1868 the building was turned into a lace warehouse, which was the main trade at the time in Nottingham’s Lace Market district.

But even without that history, the apartment is impressive.

When you enter the lower ground floor apartment, you’ll spy a stone staircase that leads underground to your private cave in the basement, where you can watch TV within the stone walls. We reckon it’s the perfect space for a scary movie marathon.

Oh, and along with a large TV and comfy seating, the cave also has a wine chiller, naturally.

Go back upstairs and you’ll find a large living room, complete with a home office space. This room has curved ceilings that arch towards a central feature column, with two large windows allowing for natural light and colour changing LED strip lights for added cool.

Through a door is the kitchen, then on the same floor are two bedrooms (one with a walk-in closet, the other with an en-suite bathroom), and the main bathroom.

That bathroom happens to feature a Jacuzzi spa bath and a TV. Fancy, right?

Vikki Bennett, spokesperson for OnTheMarket, said: ‘The appeal of this property is difficult to resist – who wouldn’t want a home cinema like this one?

‘Tastefully converted and truly unique, this apartment is likely to make its new owners proud.’

Paul Robinson, director at Liberty Gate, added: ‘This is a really great property, and one not to be missed.

‘With a home office, parking, two bedrooms, and a private cave with a home cinema room, it really does have everything.

‘A truly amazing apartment, it will be snapped up quickly I am sure.’
