Love Island recap: Joanna leaves as Curtis chooses Maura over Francesca

Love Island had viewers on the edge of their seats as they watched Joanna Chimonides leave the villa after branding Michael a snake.

Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan attempted to make amends, following their huge bust up in previous episodes.

And Curtis Pritchard finally made his decision between Maura Higgins and Francesca Allen, after getting to know the pair for a number of days.

It was an eventful episode, with all the heated explosions and drama that every Love Island fan could hope for.

Joanna leaves the villa

Joanna Chimonides officially left the Love Island villa, but not before she made her feelings known for Michael Griffiths.

And by feelings, we mean the reality star branded her man a snake for not following her off the show.

Yes, things came to a bitter end for the couple as the Casa Amor girl decided to leave on bad terms with the firefighter after he told Joanna he was going to stay with his pals, and get to know her better when he’s voted out of the show.

When hearing the news, Michael admitted: ‘I feel like I’ve come here and found what I wanted and now she’s leaving.’

‘I’m a bit disappointed but yeah, it’s fine,’ Joanna replied. ‘You’re a big part of the villa so I’m not surprised.’

After saying her goodbyes, the social media influencer shoved past her beau, before telling him: ‘If you found what you want you better leave mate, but you clearly aren’t so you’re a f****** snake.’

Anton and Belle make amends

Anton Danyluk and Belle Hassan appeared to be going from strength to strength. However, after the gym owner kissed Anna Vakili in a recent challenge, the pair found themselves embroiled in an explosive row.

After shading each other for a day, and Anton sleeping on the sofa, the couple decided to talk things out and iron over any differences they had.

Belle confessed to her man that she had been let down too many times and found it hard to be herself, revealing the fact that she normally laughs things off when she is actually hurting.

And it seems the 24-year-old was understanding that they both are big characters, asking his girl if they could continue as they had been doing.

Belle agreed and the duo kissed and made up.

Curtis finally comes to a decision

Curtis Pritchard had found himself with a difficult decision to make, as Maura Higgins forced the professional dancer to make his mind up between herself and the newcomer Francesca Allen.

Taking him to the terrace, the model asked: ‘I was just thinking, maybe, you know, you might have decided or not?’

Curtis replied: ‘I’ve made my decision. Every single conversation we have had…I feel myself getting drawn closer and closer and closer to you.’

He went onto confess that he’s never got to know her properly, as he continued: ‘You look absolutely gorgeous all the time, there are so many reasons I would like to move things forward with you.’

After sealing the deal with a kiss, Curtis then went and told Francesca he had more of a connection with Maura, and asked if the pair could remain friends.

Michael officially calls it a day with Amber

Amber Gill has been trying to worm her way back in with Michael, and thought she had a chance to couple up with him now Joanna is no longer in the villa.

However, it turns out the self-proclaimed ‘hero’ still only has eyes for the dumped islander, and commanded Amber to take a seat so he could tell her where his head was at.

The pair had probably one of the shortest conversations of the show, as Michael proceeded to tell his ex gal that he didn’t want to pursue anything with her.

Walking off back to the boys, Amber was left heartbroken as she told her BFF Anna that she needed time to process what had happened.

Walking into the bedroom she told her fellow islanders how ‘weird’ Michael had been as she disappeared out of sight.

Three new bombshells are set to enter the villa

After Joanna’s shock exit, it was announced that India Reynolds, Harley Brash and Greg O’Shea were set to enter the villa.

While we are yet to see them in action, it has already been revealed that Harley knows Amber – as well as previous contestant Ellie Brown.

Speaking highly of Ellie, the newbie enthused: ‘She is amazing, we are like sisters. My mam and her mam were best friends so we’ve known each other since we were little. We’ve always stuck together.’

She added: ‘I know Zara McDermott through Ellie too. I also know Adam Collard well, he’s such a lovely boy. We went for dinner and were pictured and it was suggested we were dating but we’re just friends.’

Opening up about her friendship with Amber, she continued: ‘I see her on a night out but I don’t know her too well so it’ll be good to see her in the Villa.’

Sounds like things are about to get heated again in the villa and we can’t wait.

Love Island continues on ITV2 at 9pm.
