Love Island axe brutal Twitter challenge

Love Island’s notorious Twitter challenge has been axed from the current winter series, so we can all rest easy.

The savage Online Buzz game, which has been a major part of seasons gone by, sees the contestants guess who audiences have been tweeting about in a number of brutal posts.

Of course, the fallout following the challenge has always been dramatic, but this time around it’s been left out.

‘The Twitter challenge won’t be on this year’s series – it hasn’t been ditched for good, it’s just not happening on the winter season,’ an insider told The Sun.

Last year’s series saw Molly-Mae Hague unsettled when she turned out to be the subject of a particularly ‘mean’ tweet which accused her of being not really interested in Tommy Fury, just the show’s prize money.

It read: ‘Nah, Tommy deserves more than Molly-Mae. She doesn’t like him, she likes 50k.’

Hilariously, the tweet came from a BTS fan account, called @namjoonsais. Nam-joon is, for the non-BTS aware, is the lead rapper in the beloved K Pop group.

‘Wow. I’m actually fuming,’ Molly-Mae said in the aftermath. ‘I’m annoyed because I just feel like to bring money into it, what am I meant to say? I’m speechless to be honest.’

At the time, many audiences accused Love Island bosses of fixing the challenge by including fake tweets.

Tonight’s Love Island is set to be a corker with new boy Jamie Clayton set to confront Callum Jones over pieing Shaughna Phillips of for Casa Amor newbie Molly Smith. Not all heroes wear capes, guys.

The 28-year-old recruitment consultant gets his pick of the female islanders for a first date in scenes to air later and leaps at the chance to wine and dine Shaughna.

As the pair get to know each other, Jamie tells his date that, actually, she’s dodged a bullet.

‘I think Nas went about things the right way. I think what Callum did was a bit out of order,’ he explains. ‘My plans when I go in are to talk to him… I think you’re too smart for him if I’m going to be honest.’ has contacted Love Island for comment.

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2.
