Loose Women address ‘feud’ on-air as panellist declares Coleen is her ‘best friend’

Loose Women panellist Janet Street Porter made an on-air reference to the reports that Coleen Nolan had been part of a backstage ‘feud’ with her co-stars.

On yesterday’s show (Monday 10 January), the line-up failed to respond to the false rumours that some of the women had refused to work with Coleen, 56.

However, on today’s instalment of the ITV lunchtime programme, Janet seemingly decided to tackle the subject head-on when she made a quick remark about Coleen, silencing the rumours and describing her as her ‘best friend’.

During a discussion between the panel on whether they'd pick up someone else's dog poo, Coleen and Janet jokingly disagreed about Janet's suggestion.

Janet, 75, then turned to mum of three Coleen and said: “I know you're getting at me because I made that unfortunate remark about you earlier."

She then turned to viewers tuning in at home and remarked: "For anyone watching, Coleen Nolan is my best friend.”

As Coleen and the rest of the panel broke into laughter at Janet's comment, the show's anchor Ruth Langsford said: “Just in case. Hashtag, we all love her."

Later, in another segment, Janet quipped again: “We love Coleen the most today,” as Ruth agreed, adding: “We love her!”

This comes after Janet came out in support of her colleague on her social media account as the rumours began to circulate.

Moments after Coleen categorically denied the reports and said she was taking legal action for the personal slurs against her, Janet wrote: “I love working with Coleen Nolan.”

She added: “We’ve never had a single disagreement- sorry if that’s not ‘news’ xx.”

Their co-star Brenda Edwards also denied the rumours and said Coleen was nothing but a joy to work alongside on and off screen.

The former X Factor star wrote on Twitter: “It’s always a pleasure to hang with you at work @loosewomen.”

Brenda, 52, added: “And also out of work, you have always made me feel so welcome, and I appreciate the straight talking, fun friendship we have!! Keep smiling in the face of adversity my lovely.”

Stacey Solomon also blasted the story and sent her love to Coleen in a message on her Twitter account.

Yesterday, Coleen promised fans she would talk about the incident as soon as she could.

After her appearance on yesterday’s show, Coleen took to her social media to explain why an explanation hadn’t been featured on the show.

The star explained she was unable to address the rumours and insisted she will speak out when she is able to.

She wrote: "I’m so sorry we couldn’t say what we planned to today but my lawyer advised me to go through the legal process, but rest assured you will hear the outcome of this and I will share it when I can.”
