Liam Payne reaches out to ex-fiancee Maya Henry with cryptic posts about making 'mistakes' and not 'letting go'

LIAM Payne has reached out to his ex-fiancée Maya Henry with a series of cryptic posts about making "mistakes" and not "letting go".

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the former One Direction star headed to his Instagram stories to muse on the state of his relationship.

Singer Liam, 27, who revealed he had split from Maya, 21, last month, shared a series of posts and tagged his ex, telling her he "loved" her.

Writing in white text on a plain white background, the star mused about the importance of keeping loved ones "close" after making "mistakes".

"Don't let someone go if you really want to love them even if you have to learn to love them through your own mistakes," Liam wrote.

"Let your instinct tell you that you need them and keep them close we are always running out of time we never gain it."

In a follow-up post soon after, he joked: "F*** Me I'm Wise," before tagging his ex in another solo post alongside a prayer hands emoji.

He concluded the strange series of posts in what appears to be a message directly to Maya: "I love you, we calm."

Liam shocked fans last month when he confirmed his split from Maya, explaining that he needed to "work on himself".

Speaking in candid podcast conversation with Steven Bartlett, he revealed he stopped drinking after the split and had "been sober just over a month".

"I feel like more than anything at this point, I'm more disappointed in myself that I keep on hurting people," he told Steven.

"That annoys me. I've just not been very good at relationships. And I know what my pattern of things is with relationships at this point.

"I'm just not very good at them so I just need to work on myself before I put myself on to somebody else."

The Strip That Down singer continued of his recent split from Maya: "That's where I got to in my last relationship.

"I just wasn't giving a very good version of me anymore, that I didn't appreciate and I didn't like being. I can honestly say I feel better out of it.

"I didn't feel good doing what I did but it had to happen. Just a corny way to say it was the best for us both."

Liam and Maya confirmed they were engaged in August last year after Liam popped the question during lockdown with a £3 million ring.

They got together in August 2018 shortly after Liam split from ex Cheryl, with whom he shares four-year-old son Bear.

Maya and Liam's split came as a shock to fans, although the pair hadn't been spotted together since as far back as September 2020.
