Landscapers launched globally on Sky Atlantic and HBO on December 6 and the eerie drama tells the true story of Susan and Christopher Edwards. The series boasts a star-studded cast, with Olivia Colman as Susan and David Thewlis as her husband. Express.co.uk has all you need to know about whether there will be another series?

Will there be a season 2 of Landscapers?

Landscapers tells an unforgettable story about a seemingly ordinary married couple, Susan and Christopher Edwards.

Yet they find themselves caught in the middle of a murder investigation when two bodies are found in a back garden in Nottingham.

Colman plays librarian Susan, who was responsible for killing her elderly parents, William and Patricia Wycherley, and concealing their deaths for 15 years.

She and her husband visited her parents’ house in May 1998.

They shot them both and buried them in the back garden, before withdrawing money from their bank account.

Landscapers, which is a TV adaptation of the true story, is made up of four episodes.

The instalments will air weekly, with the first season drawing to a close on December 27, 2021.

As this is a miniseries, it is highly unlikely the show will return for a second season in 2022.

The idea of a miniseries is for the story to be contained within a small number of episodes, so it will come to a natural end with episode four.

The synopsis for the final instalment reads: “With their trial underway, Susan and Christopher each take the stand for a final chance to prove their version of that fatal night in the Wycherley home.

“Truth and fantasy clash as old doubts and new regrets test the limits of their love.

“The couple faces their greatest threat yet: the imminent possibility of being separated forever.”

The series is set after the events of the murder, with the couple being painted as suspects from the very beginning.

The focus shifts from the horrific crime to highlighting the tragic love story between Susan and Christopher.

Actress Colman said: “It’s about a couple, the Edwards, who we know from the very beginning have committed a crime – they’ve committed a murder.

“So you automatically go, ‘Bad! Oh, awful people!’ But then you look into it more and you see that they are two gentle people who are very devoted to each other, and in love.

“You don’t know what happened that night [when Susan Edwards’ parents were murdered]. But the fact that there’s historical abuse, that she was abused by her father: that does something to a person.

“We know now that if this happens to you as a child it might not come out until you’re an adult.

“But for some reason in Susan’s case that was thrown out of court as impermissible evidence I think Ed [Sinclair], as an empathetic person, wanted to tell a story.

“It might not be exactly their story, they did murder people and they did get away with it for 15 years. But I don’t know what any of us would do in those situations.”

Ed Sinclair, who wrote the series, said he had read about the Edwards’ story in the paper.

He said a lot of the focus was on the “wilder” aspects of the case, and so he took a different angle.

Reading about how Susan was sexually abused as a child, what she had been through became lodged in his mind.

Ed was in touch with the real Susan’s solicitor in order to paint an accurate picture of what happened.
