Jason Donovan, 52, has been forced to quit Dancing On Ice 2021.

A source told The Sun: "It's just utter carnage this year.

"There's injuries left right and centre, and COVID on top of that.

"No one could have foreseen this level of drop outs."

Hours before Dancing On Ice on February 14 ITV confirmed that Jason would not be competing on the programme after sustaining a back injury.

The singer was said to be suffering back pain and has been advised to rest, though he was set to make a return to the ice the following week.

However, ITV bosses made the shock decision to pull the planned show on February 21 after a series of set backs.

Talking about his injury at the time, Jason said: “I’ve had back pain the past couple of days and I’m under doctor’s orders to take it easy and sit this week out.

"I’m resting up, I’ll be watching from home and cheering everyone on and I look forward to returning next week".

Jason's early departure is the latest in a string of major set backs for the the primetime show hosted by Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield.

Last week professional skater Hamish Gaman, who was paired with Faye Brooks, was been forced to drop out of the competition due to injury.

An ITV Spokesperson: "Sadly we can confirm that Hamish Gaman, who has been partnered with Faye Brookes, has had to withdraw from the competition.

"We thank him for all his hard work and wish him the very best as he takes some time out to allow his injury to fully heal."

Hamish's injury is in relation to his finger which occurred off the ice.

Hamish sustained the injury whilst putting on a sock – joking about the embarrassing fail live on last Sunday's show.

As a result, Corrie actress Faye is now paired up with Matt Evers who initially started the competition paired with Denise Van Outen.

Sadly, the blonde babe was the first star forced to drop out of the series after shattering her shoulder.
