NCIS season 19 is tredding on new ground as the drama said goodbye to its veteran agent Leroy Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon). The CBS series has welcomed a cast of ever-changing faces for 18 years but Gibbs has remained one of its only constants so it will be interesting to see how the show develops. Throughout Gibbs’ reign, there have been various stars welcomed to the show, one of which, many will remember from a 1980s sitcom.

When was Isabella Hofmann in NCIS?

Actress Isabella Hofmann starred in the US version of NBC sitcom Dear John in 1988.

She portrayed Kate McCarron for four years alongside John Hirsch, Jere Burns and Jane Carr.

Hofmann had made a few television appearances prior to this but Dear John is considered the 62-year-old’s breakout role.

But it wasn’t until 2010 that she made her cameo in America’s biggest police procedural drama.

Hofmann starred in season 7 episode 20’s Moonlighting which originally aired on April 27, 2010.

She played federal judge Evelyn Wallace who was initially believed to be one of the good guys.

But as the NCIS team later figured out, Wallace was the secret villain of this particular adventure as she killed informants who took reduced sentences in exchange for their testimonies.

One of her schemes included being the mastermind behind the Cooper’s Hawk bombing which killed 13 people which almost included Susan Grady (Jackie Geary).

Thankfully, Wallace’s deeds were stopped in their tracks by Gibbs and the other agents before she could do even more damage.

Gibbs conducted a polygraph test which revealed Wallace’s role in all of the murders.

She expressed her anger at criminals getting lighter sentences because of plea deals before the episode ended with her being arrested for her role in the killings.

This isn’t the first time Hofmann has acted on a show which has to do with Harmon either.

Hofmann played Professor Meredith Cavanaugh in CBS’s navy drama JAG for two years.

She was at the heart of an ongoing romantic friction with Navy Rear Admiral, A.J. Chegwidden (John M. Jackson) her ex-fiancé.

Gibbs showed up in  JAG briefly in 2008 as a couple of episodes acted as a backdoor pilot for NCIS.

While JAG came to an end in 2005, NCIS still continues to entertain fans every week.

NCIS season 19 is currently airing on CBS with Gibbs no longer on the scene after he decided to stay in Alaska.

The police procedural will return for its next segment called False Start on Monday, November 1.

The synopsis reads: “NCIS investigates the death of a beloved Navy commander who trained some of the top athletes in the country.”

NCIS season 19 airs every Monday on CBS in America. A UK release date has not yet been announced.
