Gavin And Stacey's Mathew Horne goes on 2am election rant against BBC presenter

Gavin And Stacey actor Mathew Horne went off on a foul rant against BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg in the early hours of the morning.

The 41-year-old took to Twitter to initiate the attack against the BBC’s political editor after election night on Friday 13 December.

He tweeted: ‘I really wish I loved myself as much as you Laura @bbclaurak – I think, although deeply selfish, I’d probably be happier. For a bit. Lucky you.’

Labour supporters had been claiming BBC’s coverage during the campaigning stage had been biased towards the Tories, and moments earlier Laura had been on BBC1 discussing Labour’s losses.

She was referencing the statistics which showed Labour’s losses in Nottinghamshire and the departure of the party leader once he was defeated.

Laura had also tweeted from the studio: ‘Swing in North of England is pretty consistently v big Labour to Tory… Tories may yet lose lots of their city seats, London may be brutal for them – let’s see.’

At 1:43am, Mathew continued his rant, possibly in response to her tweet.

He wrote in his series of now-deleted tweets: ‘’Let’s see’… your ‘journalism’ knows no bounds. Resign, you disingenuous plopcarpet’.

No, he wasn’t done with his rampage yet.

The star late posted: ‘Call me a coward, I’m off. I’m leaving this unfathomable country,’ and ‘the turkeys have voted for Christmas.’

Mathew was clearly upset at the elections exit poll results.

He finally ended his tweets at 2:09am, writing: ‘I appreciated my political tweeting this evening has been unpalatable for a lot of people… My stance: IDGAF’.

On the bright side, Mathew says the upcoming Gavin And Stacey Christmas special is ‘the best episode of the show we’ve ever done’.

Mathew was spotted leaving the London-based Global Radio studios on 9 December after appearing on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X and singing his praises for the anticipated special.

The actor, who plays Gavin in the sitcom, admitted all the old cast were ‘anxious’ about whether they would ‘work well together again and the chemistry was going to be there’ before shooting the episode but that the first day raced by.

‘I’ve seen it now and I’m so proud of it,’ the actor added.
