Valerie Bertinelli is one of the beloved stars on the Food Network. The actor is not only known for her legacy in sitcoms but for her skills in the kitchen. Bertinelli hosts Home Cooking where she preps meals that viewers can easily replicate at home. The cable network recently shared a throwback recipe which they called the “PERFECT chicken dinner.” However, fans noticed there was one thing missing and respectfully called out the celebrity cook.
What was the recipe that Valerie Bertinelli didn’t season?
After Food Network shared a clip of Bertinelli’s Home Cooking show, they redirected fans to their “link in bio.” The alleged “perfect chicken dinner” is the Heirloom Garlic Clove Chicken Thighs. On the cable network’s website, it says the prep time is 15 minutes and the meal would be complete in 1 hour and 30 minutes.
To make Bertinelli’s famous chicken, the recipe calls for 6 bone-in and skin-on chicken thighs. Fans making this at home would need to season the chicken with 1 1/2 teaspoons of salt and pepper. The recipe then calls for 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of canola oil to be heated in a deep cast-iron skillet until it’s hot.
Following the website’s recipe, you would then need to add the chicken skin-side down and cook until it browns which will take about 5 minutes, and then do it on the other side. Then, add the 3/4 cup of dry white wine, the olives, thyme, garlic, and shallots sliced into rings. The recipe then calls for transferring to the oven and roast until the chicken is golden, which is a process that should take about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Fans call Valerie Bertinelli out
After following Bertinelli’s clip on how to make the delicious-looking chicken, some fans called out Bertinelli for something that was missing. Many of the fans that viewed the Food Network clip felt that she didn’t season well and mentioned it in the comments.
“IMAGINE this, but seasoned,” one fan quipped.
“She only seasons one side?” a viewer asked.
“Salt n pepper is not seasoning,” an Instagram user noted. This last user got a reply from another viewer that added, “Garlic, shallots, and thyme add flavor too. Not all seasonings are dried.”
However, not all comments were bad toward Bertinelli. Other viewers believed the recipe looked delicious and couldn’t wait to try it out themselves.
“Love your recipes and in this video, you look really beautiful,” a fan said.
“Looks scrumptious,” another viewer added.
“Looks so yummy and tasty. Love it,” another Instagram user mentioned.
