Emmerdale’s Marlon Dingle (played by Mark Charnock) and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) have recently been stressed about work as they’re worried about the future of The Woolpack. The co-owners have had growing concerns in recent weeks amid some financial difficulties and have been attempting to cut back on costs. According to official ITV soap spoilers, Marlon will soon enlist the help of Matty Barton (Ash Palmisciano). However, things quickly turn south when Matty is injured in a fire at the pub.

On Monday’s instalment of Emmerdale, Chas and Marlon discussed the financial problems they were having at The Woolpack.

Marlon insisted he didn’t have any regrets about buying shares in the pub, however, he did concede they’d have to make some changes.

The pair agreed they would have to alter the pub’s menu in a bid to cut back on costs.

“At least we are in it together eh?” Chas remarked.

“Or more like if I do a runner you’ll find me,” Marlon joked, teasing his co-worker.

Chas quickly exclaimed: “You better blooming not!”

“Don’t be daft,” Marlon replied. “My life’s in this place. We’ll do it, Chas, we have to.”

Numbers at the pub haven’t been great as they’ve been heavily impacted by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

As Marlon and Chas began struggling with the pub finances earlier this year, they realised they couldn’t afford to keep Matty on and decided to let him go.

However, according to ITV soap spoilers, Matty will soon make a short-lived return to The Woolpack.

In the upcoming scenes, Marlon becomes increasingly stressed out with work and ropes in Matty to help.

He asks Matty to work on The Woolpack’s barbecue in return for cash-in-hand.

As Marlon leaves, a pleased Matty gears up to use the pub’s outdoor grill, but things soon take a turn.

He swiftly squirts lighter fluid on the barbecue, sending up a fireball of flame burning his hands.

Could his burns be serious enough to impact Matty in the long run?

Later on, Marlon beats himself up as Chas tells him they could lose everything if Matty decides to sue them.

The next day, Moira Barton (Natalie J. Robb) insists to Chas that Matty is entitled to compensation for his injuries which will leave him unable to work.

Paddy Dingle (Dominic Brunt) is concerned for Chas as she worries about how they are going to be able to afford the payout.

But, it’s not long before an unexpected and unwelcome offer comes in.

Could Matty end hospitalised due to his injuries from the fire at The Woolpack?

Moira will likely be worried about her son’s future if Matty’s burns affect his life in the long run.

The injury will be a massive blow to Matty especially after he was previously made redundant earlier in the year.

If his burns are life-changing he could decide to sue Marlon and Chas, leaving them in even bigger financial trouble.

Will Matty recover from his injuries? And will he ever be able to work again?

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7 pm on ITV.
