Tiffany (played by Maisie Smith) has been central to a harrowing storyline on EastEnders of late as she has been using cash to buy more cosmetic products as she has begun to have problems with her self-confidence. Unfortunately, her secret came to light in recent episodes of the BBC soap when her husband, Keegan Baker (Zack Morris), noticed the physical effects the chemicals were having on his wife’s body. However, as it seems she has an addiction and there is going to be no let-up to her purchasing the products, the beloved character could be making a deadly exit from the show.
It was reported earlier this year, the actress who plays Tiffany, Maisie, will be leaving the role in the Autumn.
As the seasons change and the drama ramps up a gear in the coming weeks, it could be the cosmetic storyline and the character’s departure will combine.
There has been no official announcement on whether the former Strictly Come Dancing star is going to leave but this hasn’t stopped viewers from speculating about the drama to come.
Fans of the weeknight serial drama aired concerns for the daughter of Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) after Friday night’s instalment of the programme.
After telling Keegan she would stop using cosmetic products, he discovered she had lip fillers to make herself feel better for her college graduation.
Taking their confrontation into the street, Tiffany told her husband she had not pawned her wedding ring to get money for the products.
“Do you really think that I would do that seriously? I thought you knew that was important,” she told Keegan.
“You’ve been selling all your other jewellery,” the young businessman told his wife, but she wasn’t having any of it.
“That was from you…you are the most important thing to me and if you think I would sell my wedding ring.
“You don’t know me at all,” she added before walking away from him as the credits rolled, leaving viewers concerned about her future.
Please just stop damaging your body
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Tiffany what have you done?” as another posted on the social media platform: “Poor Tiff!”
A third remarked: “#EastEnders Tiffany Please just stop damaging your body with those fillers.”
Whilst a fourth shared: “Oh my God, Tiffany doesn’t stop with the fillers #EastEnders,” a fifth commented: “Tiffany you’re beautiful please stop comparing yourself to other girls #EastEnders.”
“Whitney does have a point, Tiffany! You don’t need all that stuff #EastEnders,” a sixth opined, referring to a scene where Whitney Dean (Shona McGarty) warned her sister not to continue purchasing the cosmetic products.
If Tiffany does continue, the youngster’s addiction could go too far as the dangerous chemicals begin to seep into her bloodstream.
As a result, she could develop sepsis, which is a life-threatening reaction to an infection in the body that the immune system cannot fight.
Symptoms of the illness are incredibly hard to spot but they included confusion or slurred speech and blue lips.
Other common symptoms to look out for are a rash that doesn’t fade when a glass is rolled over it and difficulty breathing.
Viewers have already seen Tiffany begin to develop physical reactions to the products she is using as she has been spotted with bruising on her face.
If her symptoms are caught early enough, medical professionals could be able to treat the infection in the body.
However, if no one realises what is happening to Tiffany as they’ve got little patience for her because she didn’t listen to them, the youngster could end up being killed off.
This would be a heartbreaking end to the beloved character’s time on the soap, having been introduced as Bianca’s daughter in 2008.
The actress who plays Tiffany, Maisie, explained why her character has resorted to use of cosmetic products recently.
“She’s an 18-year-old, she’s been through a lot as a character and she’s quite insecure about
herself,” she said.
“Then Keegan’s job has been taking off, he’s really been doing well for himself and it’s making Tiffany question herself and if she’s enough for him.”
Maisie added: “She’s a very relatable character on the show, she’s young, she’s in love, and she’s got a lot of pressure on her as well as being a teenager and being hormonal and experiencing what a normal teenager would experience.
“She’s got a lot of insecurities in herself,” she continued before stating her character does have big dreams for her future.
“She did study make-up so she’s trying to be a make-up artist but she has her head screwed on, she has quite a business mind.
“She had her own business and she has a joint business with Keegan so she knows quite well that influencers can get quite a lot of money from that job so she’s trying to go down that route of becoming a brand on social media.”
Will her dreams be cut short as she’s killed off in a heartbreaking exit storyline?
EastEnders airs Monday at 9:05pm on BBC One.
