Chelsea (played by Zaraah Abrahams) recently found out she was pregnant with Gray’s (Toby-Alexander Smith) baby. The EastEnders resident confided in Whitney (Shona McGarty) and told her she didn’t want Gray involved as he has a violent streak. Whitney made excuses for Gray until Friday’s episode when he turned on her for knowing about the baby before him. He threatened her and she left abruptly. Could she and Chelsea figure out Gray may have killed Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer)? The pair might work together to expose the serial killer.
Viewers of the BBC soap know Gray killed Chantelle just over a year ago, before going on to murder Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and later Whitney’s boyfriend Kush Kazemi (Davood Ghadami).
Nobody has suspected him of the killings, but now both Whitney and Chelsea have been subjected to Gray’s frightening side.
In Friday’s episode, Gray was eyeing up a knife and telling Whitney to leave before he does something he regrets.
Whitney was surprised to see Gray acting in this way, but assured him whatever they had was “over”.
“How close did she come to doing it?” Gray snapped at Whitney, referring to how Chelsea almost terminated her pregnancy.
“Close,” the market stall worker admitted.
Whitney became uncomfortable as Gray barked: “How do you know that?”
“I’m sorry Gray, I don’t like the way you’re talking to me,” she remarked.
Eventually, she confessed she had been at the clinic with Chelsea.
Fuming, Gray asked: “You were happy for someone to just kill my child then run away?”
“I wasn’t happy – it wasn’t my decision to make and it isn’t your either, to be honest,” she replied.
“That b**** can just get rid of my baby with no consequences?” He said.
Whitney demanded: “Don’t talk about her like that,” insisting it was Chelsea’s decision.
Gray later told Whitney she “had to learn” or they couldn’t be together, to which she replied: “You think we’re going to be together after this?”
At this point Gray put his hand over the knife at the dining table, telling Whitney to leave before he did something he would regret.
The brave woman said he didn’t scare her and labelled him pathetic and insecure.
It’s possible she went to find Chelsea immediately to advise her not to allow Gray to be in the child’s life.
Always one to get revenge, Chelsea could suggest instead the two should manipulate Gray to get the truth out of him and report his violence.
Determined to keep Gray away from her unborn child, Chelsea is likely to be able to convince Whitney to join her in getting back at Gray.
The pair might decide Whitney should continue to date Gray, pretending she has forgiven him for terrifying her.
Things could get risky though, with dangerous Gray having the potential to snap at any moment.
Chelsea and Whitney could even decide to get Gray into a position where he reveals the truth so they can record it as evidence.
Could this finally be the beginning of the end for the murderer?
Once the truth about Chantelle comes out, Whitney might piece together Gray was in fact obsessed with her and killed Kush in a fit of jealousy.
The Carters, who have been searching for Tina, were told by Gray that she had been in Walford recently and is alive.
Once they realise what he’s capable of, they might link him to her disappearance.
Will the women be able to get the truth out of Gray without getting harmed in the process?
EastEnders continues on Monday at 8pm on BBC One.
