Ross Boatman is set to arrive in Albert Square this summer.
The 57-year-old British actor, who is best known for starring in the ITV drama series London’s Burning, will be joining the EastEnders cast as Harvey Monroe.
Boatman will be playing the father of Dana Monroe, who has a connection to Walford already.
Ross Boatman’s character Harvey is a "real family man" who is proud to have been raised in Bow.
Traditional and fiercely protective, Harvey will do anything to keep his daughter safe.
Executive Producer Jon Sen can’t wait for Ross to arrive in Albert Square, as he said: “He’s perfect to play the affable father to Dana who’s over the moon his daughter’s found a match in Bobby but secrets aren’t likely to stay hidden on the Square so Bobby’s attempts at re-invention may well be futile.
"We’re looking forward to Harvey’s arrival, he’ll certainly shake up the Beale family dynamics.”
Dana has been romantically involved with Bobby Beale since earlier this year in April, when she and Bobby met at Walford East for a date.
Bobby Beale, currently portrayed by Clay Milner Russell, has had a troubled past in the popular BBC soap.
Bashing his sister Lucy Beale’s head with a jewellery box, Bobby was convicted of murder after the big Who killed Lucy Beale? storyline concluded in 2016.

Bobby was charged with unlawful killing and pleaded guilty.
Spending three years in prison, Bobby was released in 2019 when he rejoined the cast and later converted to Islam.
In 2020 Bobby was the victim of verbal and physical Islamophobia, which led to him being hospitalised and receiving surgery for a bleed on the brain.
In April, Bobby went on a date with Dana Monroe, who is portrayed by Barbara Smith.
