Dancing on Ice's Rachel Stevens slams 'unfair' claims she's got an advantage after finishing runner-up in Strictly

HER ageless beauty makes it hard to believe Rachel Stevens first catapulted to fame 22 years ago in S Club 7.

Now the pint size pop star is set to make a comeback after signing for next year's Dancing on Ice.

Fans of the 43-year-old will remember her undeniable talent on the dance floor after finishing runner-up in Strictly Come Dancing back in 2008.

She's now five days into training on the ice for her latest reality TV stint.

In an exclusive interview with The Sun at her Oasis by Rachel Stevens collection launch, the star hit back at claims she's got an advantage in the competition because of her previous dance experience.

"It's unfair," said Rachel. "They said the same thing when I did Strictly.

"I'm not a trained dancer so going into that was totally out of my comfort zone and a different way of performing.

"Now add the ice element to it and it's a whole new ball game."

Rachel admits she's got a competitive streak and has her eyes on the top prize.

But she wants to let her hard work do the talking – as she juggles being a mum-of-two, Dancing on Ice training and her new Oasis collection.

Asked if she can take home the trophy to her kids Amelie and Minnie, Rachel said:  "We'll see, I'm just going to throw myself into it.

"I'm going to give winning my best shot.

I'm definitely competitive, but I just want to have fun."

The singer was a member of S Club 7 between 1999 and 2003 with hits including Reach for the Stars and Don’t Stop Moving.

In 2009 she married Alex Bourne in a ceremony at Claridge's after reconnecting from childhood.

Next week she celebrates the launch of her Oasis collection after being the dream chance to make her own clothes.

"I've always wanted to sign my own clothes range so when Oasis approached me I jumped at the chance," added Rachel.

"It's been such an amazing process. It started off with a mood board showing all the things I loved. They really listened to my ideas.

"It's been very hands on. We created three different collections. You've got to have the bling in there but it's still very classic, with an edge.

"It's got real party vibes which is great – especially after the last Christmas we had."

Rachel will also be joined by 11 other celebrities including Coronation Street star Sally Dynevor, Love Island's Liberty Poole, singer Kimberly Wyatt, The Vamps' Connor Ball and Rugby ace Ben Foden on the ice rink early next year.

Telly favourite Ria Hebden, BMX racer Kye Whyte, dancer Brendan Cole, son of legendary footballer Paul Gascoigne Regan, Paralympic medallist Stef Reid and Happy Mondays star Bez are also in the competition.

  • Oasis by Rachel Stevens collection launches on the October 25.
