Corrie fans in tears as soap pays tribute to Manchester Arena bombing victims

Coronation Street fans were left in tears during the latest episode as the ITV soap paid tribute to Manchester Arena bombing victim and superfan Martyn Hett.

On the fifth anniversary of the tragic terrorist attack, which took 22 lives, Friday night's show (May 20) included a scene which saw Gail and Eileen visit a memorial bench with flowers.

A plaque on the bench read: "For Martyn and all those who lost their lives on the 22nd of May 2019. We stand together."

The touching moment caused Corrie viewers to well up and get lumps in their throats.

One viewer wrote: "What a lovely tribute to the Manchester Arena disaster. It caused a lump in my throat. Well done Coronation Street."

Another commented: "What a lovely tribute on Coronation Street to Martyn and all those that lost their lives in Manchester Bombing."

Meanwhile, a third soap fan said: "Nice touch, Corrie. Martyn Hett the Corrie superfan name as well as 21 other victims live on forever on the cobbles."
