Alex Beresford has been a familiar face on Good Morning Britain for years now, providing the latest weather news to ITV viewers on a regular basis. The reporter has even tried his hand at presenting the show in the past few months following Piers Morgan’s abrupt exit back in March. However, on Friday morning, things didn’t go as smoothly as normal when one report was plagued with tech errors.

With the sun supposed to be out in force this weekend, Alex was on hand to provide viewers with some positive news.

Luckily for fans of warm weather, sunshine is tipped to grace the entire stretch of the UK over the weekend with temperatures rising well into 20 degrees and beyond.

Just after the 7am mark, Alex delivered one of his reports, admitting sunshine is on its way for many across the country – with one exception.

He warned: “However, there is a bit of rain to come up to the north-west and slightly cloudier skies here.

“But it’s either going to be very warm or hot in places,” Alex added.

The GMB host continued: “Temperatures are expected to tough 30 degrees celsius as we get into the weekend.”

However, it soon became clear Alex was expecting a map of the country to pop up on his screen so he could show viewers the areas he was addressing.

And when it failed to do so, Alex was quick to quip at the producers of the show.

“I don’t think my graphics are rolling,” the GMB star told viewers.

Speaking directly to those behind the scenes, he went on: “I don’t know if I can get a little bit of support in the back room there,

“That would be great, they’re not going through,” Alex said as he let out a nervous chuckle.

Luckily, the screen’s graphic soon caught up with Alex’s report, prompting him to sarcastically say: “There we go! Perfection.”

Alex managed to get through the rest of his report without a hitch before moving on with the remainder of the programme.

And later in the episode, he joined host Charlotte Hawkins and Kate Garraway to discuss the vile racism aimed at England’s footballers earlier this week.

“I like many of my colleagues, we’re exhausted but like tired parents, we find the energy to push on.

“We won’t stop until we get true equality in this country, I do believe we can get there.

“It’s 2021 and things have to change,” Alex added.

His passionate speech came after England players Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka received racial abuse online after the team’s Euro 2020 final defeat.

The three players missed crucial penalties in the shoot-out with Italy after a 1-1 draw which ultimately meant Roberto Mancini’s men were crowned champions.

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
