The first trailer for Bill & Ted Face The Music is here. It’s been nearly 30 years since we last saw Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the roles as much-loved metalheads Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted “Theodore” Logan, but they’re back on August 21.
Bill and Ted are now middle aged dads, but they’re still living the rock’n’roll dream. Unfortunately, the prediction that they will write the song to unite the world has not come true, so the pair decide to travel into the future to steal the song from themselves. The film looks like everything we hoped a new Bill and Ted movie would be, with Reeves and Winter fitting back perfectly into the roles they first played back in 1989. Check the trailer out below:
Bill & Ted Face the Music also stars Samara Weaving and Brigette Lundy-Paine as Bill and Ted’s daughters, and Barry star Anthony Carrigan. In addition, it features a number of actors from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure and its sequel, Bogus Journey, such as William Sadler as Death, Hal Landon Jr. as Ted’s dad Chief Logan, and Amy Stoch as Ted’s stepmom Missy. It’s directed by Galaxy Quest’s Dean Parisot, and written by franchise creators Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon.
In an interview with Empire, Parisot suggested that much of the new movie takes place in real-time. “We’ve gone from a homework assignment to saving all space and time. We bypassed all those possible traumas in the middle,” he said. “They have an hour and 18 minutes. So they’re in trouble. And let’s say that they have to travel all over the place to try and figure it out.”
