Axel Blake has been crowned the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2022.

The fifteenth series of the ITV talent show ended with a bang on Sunday night (June 5) after the talented act gave a stellar performance at the grand final.

After religiously watching the show for weeks, millions of viewers up and down the country placed Jamie Leahey in second place with Tom Ball placing third.

As well as bagging an eye-watering cash prize of £250,000, Axel Blake also landed a spot on the bill at the Royal Variety Performance later this year as he prepares to give an incredible performance for several senior members of the Royal Family.

The 33-year-old funnyman won over head judge Simon Cowell with his first audition after the comic gave a stellar performance at the London Palladium six weeks earlier.

Since then, the stand up star has gone on to receive bigger and bigger belly-laughs from the judges as well as the millions of fans tuning in up and down the country.

The entertainer blew away viewers during his final sketch on the show which landed him the top spot on the show as well as the all-important Royal Variety Show gig.

But not everyone at home was impressed with the outcome of the talent show, as fans swarmed to Twitter branding the ITV show "fixed".

One user penned: "BIGGEST FIX EVER, He Was Not Funny NOT a Talent, It Wants Baning This Show #BGT."

Another agreed: "What a load of s***e, the winner is a professional 'comedian' who isn't even funny. Just happens to be the shows creator and exec producers golden buzzer act. #Fix #BGT."

A third fumed: "There's a reason I stopped watching @BGT years ago. The winner was Simon's golden buzzer act who already has an Amazon show rather than a very talented young man who is not only very funny but an insane ventriloquist. I just don't buy that that isn't a fix! #BGT."

The five finalists chosen by the judges during the semi-final shows each took to the BGT stage as well as the five acts put through by the public vote across the series.

Singing busker Maxwell Thorpe, schoolboy ventriloquist Jamie Leahey, comedian and impressionist Ben Nickless, music duo Flintz & T4ylor and singing school teacher Tom Ball all performed live tonight.

They were joined on stage by teenage stand up Eva Abley, singer Loren Allred, dance group 5 Star Boys, poetic conservationist Aneeshwar Kunchala and comedian Axel Blake.

Judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and David Walliams selected Amber and The Dancing Collies to perform in the grand final as their wildcard act.

The star-studded judges chose the Dutch circus performer and her troupe of talented pups over the rest of the week’s third place acts to take to the stage.

But it appears their second chance wasn’t enough to win them the gold after they were beaten to the post.
