Ashley Byam recently made his arrival to EastEnders as Mitch Baker’s (Roger Griffiths) nephew, Finlay.
His introductory storyline was an emotional one indeed, as Finlay and Felix (Matthew Morrison) arrived to Walford after learning their dad, Avery (Omar Lye-Fook) had collapsed.
After Mitch discovered Avery had terminal cancer, the family were forced to say goodbye to him as he peacefully passed away.
As Ashley gets settled into EastEnders life, he already has some impressive credits to his name, starring alongside Hollywood actors in movies!
In 2015, Ashley appeared in the biopic Legend, which starred Tom Hardy and saw twins Reggie and Ronnie become two of London’s most dreaded gangsters.
Shortly after, Ashley played Kasai in The Legend of Tarzan, which also featured Margot Robbie and Samuel L Jackson.
Reflecting on what time has been like with his EastEnders colleagues so far, Ashley recently explained: ‘Tameka is my official mentor but then Roger (Griffiths), who plays my uncle, has also been a mentor to me. Getting to learn from two amazing actors who are also amazing people is just great. It sounds so cliché to say but genuinely everybody is so supportive, Natalie (Cassidy) – Matthew’s mentor – is also great.
‘It’s such a warm and lovely community and everyone wants you to do well and make sure you’re OK. There is genuine love and care that everyone has for you when you come into the show.’
