X Factor winner looks very different as they transform into Madonna lookalike

Joe McElderry looked worlds away from his usual self as he slipped into fancy dress, channelling pop icon Madonna on a night out with his pals.

The star who was catapulted to fame after winning The X Factor in 2009 left fans speechless with his uncanny resemblance to the Vogue hitmaker as he struck up a pose.

Joe, 31, slipped into a conical corset to mirror Madonna's famous 80s look which saw her rock a Jean Paul Gaultier corset which featured cones on her breasts.

Hitmaker Madonna, 64, famously wore her outfit on the 1989 Blonde Ambition tour but it still proves to be a popular and iconic look.

The Ambitions singer went all out as he donned a replica of the corset complete with a blonde wig and microphone taped to his cheek to look as though he was performing.

He and his pal Richard opted to create a double act, with his mate dressing up as Liza Minnelli as his pal rocked a wig copying Liza's famous hairstyle and a black outfit.

Captioning his upload, Joe penned: "Found this pic of me and @richardjameshunt dressed as Madonna and Liza for my bday party! Made me smile!!!"

The singer who is preparing to tour the country honouring the music of the late George Micheal won the hearts of the nation over with his voice during his stint on the former ITV talent show.

Having made it through to the live shows, Joe was mentored by fellow Geordie Cheryl Tweedy who he instantly hit it off with during her second year on the panel.

Despite a close-knit final, Joe went on to beat Olly Murs and was later crowned the winner of the series with his debut single, a cover of Miley Cyrus' The Climb going straight to the top of the charts.

While he may have won the show, he recently explained that three years prior to his victory, he actually auditioned before walking out at Bootcamp due to it being "overwhelming".

Speaking on Steph's Packed Lunch, he said: "So I would've been about 15, I got to bootcamp and on the second day I was like, 'I don't like the cameras being here,' just overwhelming.

"I pulled a producer to one side and I was like, 'Excuse me, I'm just going to leave now, this isn't for me,' I don't think they'd ever really had that before, yu could tell they were a bit like 'sorry what?'

"I just said, 'I don't feel like I'm good enough and I don't feel like I'm ready or confident enough and I left.'"
