Sam Smith blasts Valentine’s Day as ‘offensive’ and wants to ban it

Sam Smith isn't a fan of the most romantic day of the year as they compared Valentine's Day to a funeral.

The British singer, who is set to release new music soon, opened up about the 14th February and admitted they'd rather "destroy" the day than partake in the loved-up celebrations.

During a chat on Roman Kemps' Capital Breakfast show, Sam confessed being perpetually single has made them hate the day.

They said: "It’s my twenty-seventh year of being single on Valentine’s Day. I’m over it. It’s offensive. Yeah, I’m sad today. Today’s a sad day. It’s more like a funeral."

Over on Heart Breakfast with Jamie and Amanda, Sam added: "Look I don’t want to be a Debbie downer but this isn’t my favourite day. I’m quite anti-Valentine’s day."

Jamie mushed: "Am I right in saying it was invented by the card industry anyway?"

"It was invented by Clintons," Amanda replied.
