Kristen Stewart has revealed that the story of Diana, Princess of Wales is "one of the saddest to ever exist" as she gears up to play the Princess in a film.
The Hunger Games star, 30, is taking on the role of Diana which is set during a weekend in the early 90s when the Princess of Wales discovered her marriage was breaking down.
While production will not get underway until mid-January, Kristen has immersed herself into researching the late royal so she knows her "implicitly".
"The accent is intimidating as all hell because people know that voice, and it's so, so distinct and particular. I'm working on it now and already have my dialect coach," she told InStyle.
She went on to say: "In terms of research, I've gotten through two and a half biographies, and I'm finishing all the material before I actually go make the movie.
"It's one of the saddest stories to exist ever, and I don't want to just play Diana – I want to know her implicitly."
She added: "I haven't been this excited about playing a part, by the way, in so long."

Prince William's mum opened up in a bombshell interview just one year before her divorce, telling BBC's Panorama: "Well, there were three of us in this marriage, so it was a bit crowded."
Sadly, the Princess lost her life aged 36 following a fatal car crash in Paris in 1997.
Diana's driver was rushing to flee from hoards of paparazzi that were following her and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed.
Spencer will be directed by Pablo Larrain and the script has been written by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight.
