Katie Price thought she would die after panic attack made her feel ‘paralysed’

Katie Price has revealed that she thought she would die after a panic attack left her feeling "paralysed".

The reality TV star, 43, recently appeared on the third season of the Life, Interrupted podcast with Simon Thomas, during which she opened up about experiencing a panic attack while swimming which left her feeling like she was 'being dragged under water'.

The podcast episode was recorded in April this year.

Katie said: "So I remember one time I was training [and] I just remember swimming [and] my body went paralysed.

"I remember holding on to the ropes and shouting out for help because I felt like I was being dragged under the water.

"From then that's when my panic attacks started. And then I had nightmares [about] drowning. So ever since then, I was 15/16, panic attacks, they tap you on the shoulder."

Explaining that she is forced to "breathe in a bag" while suffering an attack, Katie added: "It's quite scary because you think you're gonna die when you have a panic attack."

On the podcast, Katie also opened up about the "damaging" and "suffocating" impact of negative press coverage on her mental health.

She said: "I can't tell you how damaging [the] past 10 years have been for my mental health.

"It's kind of like you're drowning – there's more stories coming out, more stories, and you're just trying to get up for air because you want to protect yourself from all these stories.

"And if you can't do it, it just carries on and on. So people create perception of what they think you're like and it's suffocating."
