Friends, family and fans of Elvis Presley are celebrating his extraordinary life around the world today. The superstar died on August 16, 1977 and even though he has now been gone longer than he was alive, he remains as beloved as ever. Few knew him more intimately than Linda, who was with him for four of the last five years of his life. Linda has said: “I have tried to conduct my life in a way that has always respected him and his memory,” and today she posted a heartfelt new message.
Before during and after he was married, Elvis loved (or least dallied with) many women, often for a very short amount of time. But Linda was different. They were together from July 1972 to December 1976 and she was as much companion, support and nurse as she was lover, always by his side.
A couple of months ago she said: “I’m as fan as much as anybody else is a fan of Elvis Presley. Also he was the love of my life. I adored him. He would be staggered by how incredibly generous everybody has been to his memory.”
And today she spoke out about their time together and paid tribute to his millions of fans.
