David Beckham grimaces as he shows off ripped body during intense workout

David Beckham sent his fans wild on Wednesday when he shared a topless photo of himself.

The 45-year-old star took to Instagram to give his 65.1million followers a glimpse of his workout session – and it looked rather intense.

Showing off his tattooed chest and arms, David wore a pair of black Adidas jogging bottoms and trainers as he did some work on his triceps against a black box.

The former footballer captioned the picture: "I really hate tricep dips as a finisher," and judging by his grimace, he wasn't lying.

His personal trainer, Bobby Rich, was quick to comment on the post and wrote: "Behave, you were repping them out like you loved them!"

He also shared the snap of David on his own Instagram profile and, tagging him, captioned it: "Training hard and smart. Very impressed with this man right here.

"Despite lockdown disrupting a short stint and having to take our sessions online, for the past eight weeks David has trusted me and smashed everything I’ve chucked at him out of the park!"

Meanwhile David's 18-year-old son Romeo commented on his dad's post and said: "Ok big man," followed by the laughing face emoji.

Hairdresser Ken Paves, who does Victoria Beckham's hair, commented: "I second that! I just put my handful of Christmas cookies down."

And plenty of David's fans were quick to compliment him on the photo, with one person writing: "I hope I look this good when I'm your age."

A second added: "He's still got it," while a third wrote: "But we don't hate watching you do them."

The post comes after David shocked fans by sharing a photo of himself at the age of 70.

David stars in a new campaign video for the charity Malaria Must Die as a much older man.

The star has been digitally aged in the short film, during which he delivers a speech in an imagined future where malaria has been wiped out.

His face has been altered so that he has wrinkles across his forehead and his facial hair appears entirely grey.

“We have defeated humankind’s oldest and deadliest enemy,” the 45-year-old says at the start of the clip.

“A disease that has killed billions, more than any other in history. Today we have ended malaria. Thanks to scientists, leaders, and people everywhere, the world is now safer for us all,” he continues.

“Future generations will be protected and the world will be stronger to defeat all diseases.”

The elderly Beckham then transforms into his current self, and he explains how, as a father of four, it “breaks [his] heart” that a child dies every two minutes from malaria.
