Ever since the release of A Star is Born, there have been rumors that Lady Gaga has been romantically linked to her co-star, Bradley Cooper. Some of these rumors have even gone so far as to suggest that Lady Gaga is pregnant with Cooper’s child. In a recent social media post, Gaga addressed these rumors.
An intriguing post
Gaga posted a picture of herself in a studio on Twitter. The picture featured this caption: “Rumors I’m pregnant? Yeah, I’m pregnant with #LG6.” LG6 might sound like the name of a minor character from the Star Wars or Star Trek franchises or a planet from the Alien franchise, but it probably stands for Lady Gaga 6 – referring to the singer’s upcoming sixth album. Gaga is probably referring to the album as LG6 because it doesn’t have a proper title yet.
To some, this social media post seems like a denial of the rumors. The post could certainly be read as a statement that Lady Gaga is not pregnant with anything besides ideas for new music. Gaga has certainly used birth metaphors before, particularly during the promotion cycle of her second album, Born This Way.
Perhaps the post is an extremely subtle clue that Gaga’s next album will share some stylistic similarities with Born This Way. The singer certainly has dedicated fans that would make a connection like that; many Lady Gaga fans also consider Born This Way to be the singer’s most compelling album, so it wouldn’t hurt for her to return to its aesthetic.
The theory that Gaga is making an album similar to Born This Way makes sense; that album was techno-inspired and Gaga’s collaborator, Boys Noize, has said that her next album will feature techno music. However, the attentive fan will notice that Gaga never explicitly denied the pregnancy rumors in the post.
A simpler explanation
It’s completely possible that Gaga and Bradley would prefer to take time to announce a pregnancy to the world given the high level of scrutiny that their alleged romance has received. A source close to Cooper has said that the actor is not romantically linked to Gaga. Throughout her career, the singer has maintained a level of privacy regarding her personal life, so it’s completely possible that the duo decided to keep quiet regarding her alleged pregnancy for now.
While Lady Gaga is revered as a master of self-promotion, she usually manages to grab headlines with her memorable and outrageous outfits rather than by fueling speculation about her personal life. If Gaga was attempting to hide her pregnancy before eventually revealing it, she would be acting out of character.
While music fans and movie fans both seem to like the idea of Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper becoming a couple, there does not appear to be enough evidence to conclude that that is the case, much less that Lady Gaga is pregnant with Cooper’s baby.
