A bathtub scene from Joker was cut from the R-rated DC Comics film.
According to Insider , director Todd Philips told the SPBIFF Cinema Society of a deleted scene that didn't make the final cut of the Joaquin Phoenix film.
Philips said of a "bathtub" scene: "I don’t think we can actually include it in an R-rated movie and it’s not because it was pornographic, it was just insane."
Considering some of the disturbing content in Joker, we can only imagine what the scene was like, especially considering Philips is not in favour of any alternative cuts of the film being released.
The director previously said to Collider : "I hate f***ing extended cuts. I hate deleted scenes…They’re deleted for a reason.
"The movie that exists is exactly the movie I want it to be and I will never show a deleted scene."
Well, that told us!
The film is already the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time and, against its production budget, is the most profitable film adaptation of a comic book of all time.
But the important question is: will there be a sequel?
Joaquin Phoenix previously said on Popcorn with Peter Travers : “I wouldn't have thought of this as my dream role, but now, honestly, I can’t stop thinking about it.
"I talked to Todd a lot about what else we might be able to do, in general, just working together, but also specifically, if there’s something else we can do with Joker that might be interesting."
So, we'll take that as a definite maybe!
Joker is in cinemas now.
