There are palaces, there are cottages, and then there is the colonial-style two-story house that Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, formerly occupied. Last Thursday, Meghan’s previous Los Angeles home was listed for sale. And now, you can live and entertain in the exact space where Meghan once lived and entertained before becoming British royalty—for $1.8 million.
According to TMZ, Meghan owned this Los Angeles property during her marriage with director and producer Trevor Engelson, from 2011 to 2013. Whether or not the duchess held ownership of the house after the divorce is unclear.
Out front, the house features charming details like a pedimented porch, an arched roof over the entryway, dark window shutters, and (of course, this is Los Angeles after all) palm trees.
Inside, the living quarters are sleek and modern. Crisp white walls and hardwood floors are uniform throughout. The alfresco dining area faces the sizable grassy backyard. Marble countertops and backsplashes are a mainstay of the kitchen and bathrooms. The four bedrooms are also doused in sunlight, with huge windows to exploit that good ol’ California weather.
The house is perched on Highland Avenue, a street often congested with traffic even on a good day. Although the home is in a prime location for any lucky Angeleno–with its proximity to bustling neighborhoods like La Brea, Melrose, Fairfax, and Hollywood–the privacy of Meghan’s new abode is probably more ideal for her new lifestyle.
Prince Harry and the duchess recently moved to Frogmore Cottage, a centuries-old residence on the Windsor Estate. This location is also the site of the couple’s wedding reception, where they fêted with about 200 family members and friends.
